Erin Lindsley Thomson is a psychotherapist and mindfulness instructor. She received her BS degree from Brigham Young University in marriage family and human development and a minor in music in 2006. She completed her Master of Social Work degree from Utah State University in 2023. Erin has been a mindfulness instructor since 2019 and completed training at the Brown University School of Public Health to become a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Level 1 Instructor in 2022.
Through the rigors of life and mothering, Erin discovered mindfulness and its life-changing benefits. In 2019, Erin became a mindfulness instructor for the Learning to BREATHE course. She was trained by the curriculum's creator, Patricia C. Broderick, PhD. She has also completed two seven-night silent meditation retreats, where she was instructed by Bob Stahl, PhD.
Erin has taught Learning to BREATHE mindfulness classes to 6th grade, junior high, and high school students, Mindfulness for Adults, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the Davis Mindfulness Center. She collaborates on the Davis Mindfulness Center's events and course offerings. Erin is actively involved in community prevention and education efforts.
Erin worked as a psychotherapist at Davis Behavioral Health in Adult Mental Health Outpatient for her final graduate school practicum. She is currently a psychotherapist at Abundant Life Counseling and Wellness Group.
Erin is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has found a deeper connection to God through mindfulness and meditation. She is the keynote presenter for the Rest in Radiance Retreat, a women's retreat that incorporates meditation and mindfulness principles with those of the LDS faith.
Erin is married to her husband, James, and they have four children. Erin loves to play the piano and taught piano lessons for ten years. She spent three years singing in BYU's top-auditioned choirs: Women's Chorus and Concert Choir. She enjoys yoga, running, high fitness, Pickleball, and barre. Her favorite hobbies with her family include hiking, reading Harry Potter ("snuggle with a muggle"), traveling, kayaking at the lake, and movie night. She drinks warm water (unless it's a large ice water from Chick-fil-a) and loves frozen Coke from McDonald's.
