Welcome! My name is Erin. I am a psychotherapist and mindfulness instructor.
I believe that "Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it." Mahatma Gandhi
My goal is to share resources, practices, and insights to help you become more settled within the unsettled. I'm glad you're here!
Life can be so stressful! We all experience anxiety, disappointment, grief, depression, fear, overwhelm, and many other emotions. When these emotions overrun our minds and bodies, they can take a heavy toll on our physical and mental health.
Practicing mindfulness increases our ability to interact more skillfully with the stresses of life, and live awake in the present moment. By living a mindful life, we still experience these emotions, but we do so with clarity, perspective, and compassion. We become more resilient, empowered, and settled.
The Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley describes mindfulness as "maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens."
Mindfulness is meditation, practicing focusing and refocusing the mind.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is the convergence of meditation, science, medicine, neuroscience, and education.
Numerous studies have shown that a regular mindfulness practice can have tremendous benefits to our physical, psychological, and social well-being.
Mindfulness has been shown to boost the immune system, increase positive emotions, reduce stress, increase compassion, reduce pain, improve sleep quality, increase resilience, improve relationships, and much more.
